Ep #3: Back to the Present

Monday, May 26th, 2008 at 1:32 am

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Hope you’ve all enjoyed a barbeque this weekend! But let’s not forget what this holiday is really about: to honor our troops, past and present, especially those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

With that being said, it’s time to sit back with a nice beer on your patio and listen to Episode #3 of Something Planet. We have some good Memorial Day themed songs and a lot of interesting news stories and time travel experiments!

Dear Descendants of John J, Stuey B, and David the Day.

We hereby give you the authority to visit us from the future (your present) on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 8 p.m. local time at our recording studio located at [location hidden from public]. This is to say if time travel to the past is a viable method of transportation in your day and age. If not, please keep this note and pass down to your next of kin.

Thank you,
Something Planet Podcasters

I looked up a bit of that John Titor guy, and I’ll call bullshit. Even though he said all things are possible blah blah covering his ass, he said that the difference between out worldline and his was only like two percent… Now, this seems to relate to time as well, since he said he could never return to the exact time, hence “temporal divergence”. So, he said that the Hadron supercollider would discover these singularities that would lead to them figuring out time travel, so, that seems to be pretty necessary for him to be telling the truth. Now this thing was supposed to be built by Spring of 07, and Mr. Titor said that himself, and here we are, Summer 08, and that still hasn’t been built fully and no tests have been run yet.

So, what I’m getting at is, if he claims a temporal divergence or whatever he called it of 2 percent, then if he went back to 1975 from 2036 that’s a difference of 61 years. So, if there’s a possible 2 percent difference in time as well, he could wind up anywhere from 7.3 months too early or 7.3 months too late, that is if this divergence goes equally in both directions (using 61 years, X 2 percent, gives 1.22 years). So, he made his claim in 2001 that the Hadron collider would be built in spring of 2007. So if he went back to 1975, and we’re still using this 2 percent difference factor, then from the time he came back to the time of his claims was 26 years. 26 years, X 2 percent, gives .52 years, therefore, he should not have been able to be off by more than a bit more than six months, yet he is off by at least a year if not more. Again, if time divergence goes equally in both directions, then he should have been off be even less, 3 months at most.

This was the only testable one since he claimed the US civil war in 2005 “might not be recognized as a war” until much later…. And since the particle accelerator is essential for his time travel, it seems that it would exist on both world lines, and if there is only a 2 percent difference, it’s impossible for him to have been that wrong about when it would run it’s tests and discover these singularities things…

I swear I really didn’t put that much thought into this, but now I sound like a total geek. I only wasted about ten minutes of my life on this, and I have you guys to blame! Phew. Someday I will do something productive
